McCagga "M.B" Baxter Smith, III

Spartanburg, SC- McCagga Baxter Smith, III, 91, husband of the late Betty Jean Brown Smith, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017. A native of Spartanburg, SC, M. B. was a son of the late McCagga Barnett and Maude Hood Smith. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, attended Wofford College, and graduated from Clemson College, class of 1948. M.B was a zealous tiger fan and a lifelong member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, Brad Smith (Lyle Hudson) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Caroline H. Smith and Brad B. Smith, Jr.; two brothers, Clary H. Smith (Betty Ruth) and Sanford N. Smith (Shirley); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 31st, 10-11AM at Cedar Spring Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11AM, officiated by Reverend Todd Lowe and Reverend Jim Jackson. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.M. B.’s family wishes to thank the residents and staff of White Oak Manor Assisted Living for their loving friendship and care.
