Richard Alan Burton

Pacolet, SC- Richard Alan Burton, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 29, 2020. Rick was born on August 31, 1956 in Pearisburg, Virginia to Robert and Dorothy Burton. He graduated from Emory and Henry College in 1978 and subsequently spent many years teaching physical education and coaching at JKA-Springdale School, Aiken Prep School, and Christ Church Episcopal School. In 1984 he married his wife, Betsy, and in 2000 adopted his two children, Sadie and Sutton from Kiev, Ukraine. In later years, Rick was self-employed building outdoor structures. Rick is survived by his wife, Betsy; his children, Sutton and Sadie; his sister, Becky (Mike); and brother, Bob; along with many well-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rick was a devoted husband and father. He adored and supported his family as his first priority. He especially loved family adventures, the mountains, and his rescue dog, Gus. Rick never seemed to meet a stranger, making warm connections and lasting friendships with everyone whose life he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
